With over 4 octaves in her range, and a voice that
is Tenor, Alto and Soprano, Anna can deliver Jazz, Latin, and R&B, with both Soul and Salsa! Fizzy, Sparkling Songwriting! Anna (Acevedo) Lyman is a Latin-
American, Latin-Jazz artist who is fusing a kind of Bluenote Latin Jazz with Salsa, and
the Motown Soul she loved during her Detroit childhood. By placing bluenotes and blues progressions
into her Latin music, she hoped to re-create the flavours of music she was hearing in her head. This created a special new sound that
she describes as "Bluenote Latin Jazz". Anna writes
her lyrics in both Spanish and English in the same song, and also
sings in Brazilian Portuguese.
Anna was born in Detroit to a Mexican-American Father and a Scotch/
Irish-American Mother. In her childhood, she was exposed to Sergio
Mendes, Henry Mancini, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and many more
wonderful, Jazz, Latin and Soul musicians. Anna was listening.
In her late teens she emigrated to Canada, completed High School and
also a 4-year Bachelor of Music in Jazz, Performance (Voice Major,
Minor in Guitar), at VIU, on Canada's West Coast and Gulf Islands.
With so many important influences in her music, her songwriting
produces something different every week. She says "Even Donald Trump could not afford to record all the music I hear in my head...".

Anna has appeared at International Jazz Festivals, has been
interviewed by the CBC Radio. She is currently developing her new

Anna brings a new dimension to modern jazz vocals. Anna's lush vocals go straight to the
heart whether she swings or broods over a ballad. Anna is half Latinamerican, but was raised in Motown (Detroit!), and completed High School and University training in Canada (B.Mus. etc.).
